A Snake Mistaken For A Loom Band.

Summary:

Two waste removal men were putting a sofa into their van in Aberdeen, Scotland. The snake had slithered between the cushions. The two men thought he was just a loom band until he started moving. Mac the snake will be taken by rescue officers if his owner doesn't collect him.

Opinion:

I think this would be pretty scary if I found a snake in a sofa. I don’t think that I would think that the snake would be a loom band. I think that all the waste collectors should check the furniture before they put it in their van for safety reasons or they might even find someone's long lost treasure!

Fairy Tales Houses.

Summary
If you like fairy tales and watching Disney movies then you will love these houses. The cool looking houses are nearly as exact as the locations in the Disney movies. The first house was made in Germany.

Opinion

I think that these people are crazy because they would have to spend lots of money on their houses. I do like the idea of Disney inspired houses around the world. I think they should show off their houses and put them on display to the public.

Moa Bones Being Sold In New Zealand.

Summary:
People have been selling bones on trade me. There have only been one or two moa bones sold but the New Zealand government are trying to stop this. You are allowed to sell bones but if they belong to the Department of Conservation Land then they aren't allowed to sell them.

Opinion
I think that whoever found these bones should sell them to the New Zealand museum so they can be displayed. I think that they will get a lot of money. Or they could just give them away.

Stonefields Film

SUMMARY:
My favourite Manaiakalani Film was created by kids at stonefields.  The video was called Kids React To..The film was about how some kids reacted to a bamboo stick. The producers asked the four kids questions about a bamboo stick then the kids answered them. One of them thought that it was awesome how teachers used to hit kids with bamboo sticks? Near the end of the film the kids were told to hit one of the producers how they thought teachers used to hit the kids back in the days.

Screenshot 2014-11-14 at 10.06.41.png

OPINION:
I really liked the reactions of the kids when they got told what the bamboo stick was really used for. I thought that they had really good acting skills as well. I liked it when they were asked ‘what they thought it was used for. One kid thought it was a walking stick for an old man. It was very funny at the end because they started to hit people to see how they thought teachers whacked the students. This movie was my favourite movie out of the 100+ films from the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

The Hidden Passage

Screenshot 2014-10-17 at 12.12.24.png
I just finished getting my favourite book out of the library. I opened the book to chapter 1 and discovered a piece of paper. This was odd, also the letter was signed by David?.
It said there was a hidden passage at the senior block. I walked to the school and made sure there was no one around. As I was leaning against room 11’s brick wall when some the bricks fell into a hole. This must be the secret passage, so i jumped in.
It was dark, cold and there was no light. I saw a light at the end of the passage and there was a treasure chest. I took the treasure chest home and cashed it in for money and I was RICH!

Talking Fish

The Talking Fish

Screenshot 2014-10-17 at 11.58.53.png     One day a fish said “hello” to me, when it popped its scaly head out of the lake water. It was really bizarre. I started a conversation with it. It turns out that a wizard cast a spell on it so he could talk to it and that’s how it was able to talk to me.

The fish said he was very happy living at the lake because he could talk to other people. He had also asked the wizard for one wish and asked if he could speak English. “it happened a couple of weeks ago” he said.

The fish enjoyed my company and I enjoyed his. The fish looked very lonely when I went home, he had no family. the next day I went back and asked him if he wanted to live with me . We lived happily ever after.

DON'T LOOK DOWN!

A Tattoo On Your Eye??

Summary
William who is 58 got his eyeball tattooed. The reason why he got this done is because he had a condition which changed his eye. Now that the surgery has been done his eyes look almost identical.

Opinion

I would not want to get my eyeball tattooed because I think that it would hurt. I would be very scared if I got this done. I also wouldn't want to get it done because something might go wrong and I might loose my eyeball.

A baby called Rose was born with two front teeth. Rose’s mum and dad were shocked when they saw that she had teeth. Sadly Rose’s teeth had to be removed because of health issues. It turns out that Rose might have got this from her grandmother.

Lorde!

Lorde, New Zealand’s famous kiwi singer won two awards. One was for her hit song ‘Loyals’ and the other was for Best rock song at the Billboard awards.

I am proud of Lorde! and I love her hit song ‘Loyals’. I really think that she should’ve won the best female video instead of Katy Perry.

Money !

A money truck crashed in Rhode Island on the highway. It swerved, went onto the grass and tipped on it’s side. People were soon by the place of the accident. Police don’t know if any money was taken.

If I saw the crash and there were no police cars I would go see if the drivers were alright then I would take some of the money.

The Warriors have been beaten and gone down to 10th place because the Roosters crushed them.At half time the score was 16-6. The Roosters have moved to 3rd place after winning a 46-12 VICTORY!

I think that the Warriors will lose their last two games. Hopefully the Roosters move up the chart or stay in 3rd place.

The Price Of Nutella Has Sky Roketed

This is bad news for nutella lovers. The price of nutella has gone way up because of the hailstorms near the end of March. The storm destroyed 70 per cent of the crops near Turkey’s Black Sea Coast.

I feel sorry for the people who grew the crops and I hope that they will grow back very soon so the price of nutella can go down again.

The Flood

During the school holidays I stayed with my sister in Whangarei. On Saturday we were about to go into town but the road got flooded with deep water. So we went to visit my cousins instead up the road.We stayed at their house for 2 hours.

We decided to go see if we could drive through the flood because it had stopped raining. As we came up to the flooded area there was a roadworks sign. They were digging trenches on each side of the road for the flood water to go through. We were lucky because most of the water had gone so we drove through the flood into town.

When we got into Whangarei my sister gave me spending money. Then we went to Factorie to get her some clothes. I didn’t spend my money because Whangarei has ugly clothes.

Taking Our Team Pictures

On Friday we went to the Pakuranga Rugby League clubrooms to take our team pictures. We went too early so we played around for an hour and a half. We played tag other kids for ages. When we got bored we went into the clubrooms and had a rest. 5 minutes later it was our turn to have our picture taken. Most of the girls in my netball team were putting lipstick on. The man who took the pictures seated us. When he was ready he told us to SMILE. He took about 6 pictures. When the flash went off my eyes kept closing. I don’t like getting my picture taken! :]

Making It To The Finals

On Wednesday it was amazing to see all the school teams competing against each other at the inter school netball champs.I really enjoyed playing at the AMI netball courts. It was cool to see different skills from every player in our area. Our school did very well and we made it into the semi-finals and the final to play-off for third and fourth. While we were there we supported the year 5 and 6 netball team as well. The year 5 and 6 netball team did really really great.

We were thinking negatively at first and thought we were going to lose every game.  Our first game was against St Pius. Then Glen Brae and Pt England. We won the first two games  and lost our third game in our pool matches. We won our semi final against Tamaki Primary then lost to Glen Innes to come fourth overall out of 16 teams in the year 7 and 8 grade. We did really well.

Learning To Make Smart Decisions

When we share online we will make smart decisions about what personal information we share
  • I will use my first name only
  • I am going to think carefully about what I share online and if I am not sure I will  ask my parents, teachers or principal.
  • If I can’t ask anyone or I am not sure I will  keep it private
  • I will be sharing what I am learning, new knowledge and information relevant to my learning

We have been learning to make smart decisions about what personal information to include when making blog posts. For example you could keep your age and date of birth private and share your first name. Also, things about how to set up and recheck your blog posts like spelling, punctuation, text font and text size. I learnt that if I am not sure what to do if someone sends an inappropriate message to me I will share it with teachers, parents and my principal.
